happy 1st birthday!



Preparing to go to the airport

They say that one year olds don’t remember their first birthday.   But we didn’t take any chances. In fact, we didn’t have a first birthday party for you when you turned One … we had FOUR birthday parties! J

A week before your birthday, we flew to Adelaide via Kuala Lumpur.  It was fitting that you and Mommy were the ones who travelled since it was Daddy who flew to Manila the day before you were born.

Party 1

This was on 14 September, the day of your birthday. We had a barbecue at Zio Eugene and Zia/Ninang Luisa’s place.  We did an “Oh Baby, Go Baby” theme which we lifted from one of your favourite books.  You had a birthday cake which looked like the book cover, and we adopted a yellow and blue colour scheme.  We made a special video for you chronicling your progress the past 12 months! For souvenirs, we gave out music cds with a jacket insert of an adaptation of the “Oh Baby, Go Baby” book.

Party 2

Your lolo, lola, tiyos, tiyas, and cousins in Tacloban City had a special lunch in honour of you (we were in Adelaide at that time)! Talk about love, long distance!

Party 3

The Friday before we flew back to Manila, we had another birthday barbie for you (in Oz-land, they call a barbecue a barbie..). Of course, this called for another birthday cake J

Party 4
When we got back to Manila, Mommy celebrated your birthday with office friends.  Yes, still another birthday cake!
